      Simone covers everything about otaku (geek) life, including informing readers that the term was once negatively interpreted as someone obsessed with anime or manga. However, as manga and anime have grown in popularity over the last 30 years, the disparaging connotations have disappeared. Tokyo, geek capital of the world, abounds with neighborhoods that are rich with shops, restaurants, nightlife, hotels, events, museums/libraries, and festivals. Maps clarify locations in the overwhelming city and each area's "specialties" are noted. Stores sell clothing, wigs, and even contact lenses that enable fans to dress like their favorite characters. Some restaurants decorate food to fit a theme, about which the author notes, "the clever presentation often outshines the food itself." For a fee, you can enjoy manga of any kind and hundreds of picture books at Tachikawa Manga Park Library, while the Suginami Animation Museum offers a historical overview of Japanese animation. Mind-boggling pictures are included; travel tips remind readers that hours change and establishments come and go quickly. Hentai (pornography) is part of otaku culture, "so you have been warned."
